Kamelia “Mia” Poppe, Esq.  is the founding partner of The Law Firm of Poppe & Associates, PLLC. She is an experienced practitioner of family and matrimonial law, with niche competencies in high net worth divorce, custody litigation, international child custody & abduction, the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA) and the Hague Convention.

Mia, the granddaughter of a sharecropper, was raised in South Carolina, and is frequently described by the Southern phrase, a “Steel Magnolia”. Even as a young girl, Mia naturally embodied the true definition of a Steel Magnolia, ”A woman who exemplifies both traditional femininities, as well as an uncommon fortitude.” Relentlessness or uncommon fortitude, is the essence of Mia, and she brings this quality to all of her divorce and custody matters.

Mia herself went through two divorces,  and custody litigation and she describes herself and her children as living the “real happily ever after”.

She is a proud mother of three adult sons, Michael, Miles, and Mackenzie, and twin daughters, Hannah and Noa, who she lovingly refers to as “my best girlfriends.”

Mia resides in Manhattan during the week and spends her weekends in her 110-year-old colonial home in Westchester County with her daughters and two cockapoos, Coco Chanel and Mocha Chip. On most weekends, Mia enjoys hosting outdoor dinner parties where her friends from all walks of life gather and celebrate the generosity of the Universe.

Life Outside of the Courtroom

When not in Manhattan during the week, Mia spends her weekends in Westchester County. Mia recently restored a 110-year-old Victorian home in Westchester County. Mia regards this home as her dream home because she created all the designs along with a team of professionals. She resides in her dream home on the weekends with her twin daughters, Hannah and Noa, and her two (2) four-legged Cockapoo girls, Coco and Moca. Mia spends most of her weekends at the neighborhood Racquet Club either watching her twins swim or play tennis. When not at the club, Mia can be found either jogging or in a pilates or yoga studio. The haven of Westchester County is the perfect oasis to meditate on the numerous complex cases her firm manages. The active practice of yoga, and pilates affords Mia just the right amount of escape before she heads back to Manhattan to continue fighting for her clients.

In addition to her thriving Manhattan practice, Mia also accepts clients in Westchester County as she equally considers both Manhattan and Westchester her home.
